What this tool is for
CSV viewing is useful for inspecting raw exported records without altering the source. The essential checks are header order, consistent field counts and whether unusual characters or quoted values parse as expected.
How to use it
- Select a CSV and review the top rows to identify headers and separators.
- Spot-check rows with commas, dates, prices or multiline descriptions.
- If edits are needed, switch to the CSV editor and export a separately named file.
Example workflow
A customer export with 'Last name, First name' inside one quoted field should not become two separate columns.
Important limitations
- A preview does not validate every row in a large dataset.
- CSV has no inherent column types: leading-zero IDs and date-like strings can be changed by downstream spreadsheet programs.
