CSV and data tool

Convert CSV to JSON

Upload a CSV file and convert rows into structured JSON objects using the first row as field names.

What this tool is for

Converting CSV to JSON typically uses the first row as property names and each remaining row as an object. The output works well for APIs and scripts when the table has stable headers and one record per row.

How to use it

  1. Check that the CSV's first row contains unique, descriptive field names.
  2. Convert the records to JSON and inspect quoted strings and escaped characters.
  3. Validate the JSON syntax and confirm types before using it in a program.

Example workflow

A three-column CSV containing id, name and price may become an array of objects with those keys, but the price can remain a string until your code explicitly parses it.

Important limitations

  • Blank or duplicated column names can produce confusing object keys.
  • JSON conversion does not infer reliable numeric, date or boolean types from every CSV field.
