What this tool is for
ZIP archives bundle files and optionally compress them. Images, MP4s and other already compressed formats rarely shrink much; plain text, XML and some documents can compress more effectively. Repacking a ZIP can also change metadata and entry order.
How to use it
- Select a ZIP and inspect the listed contents before processing.
- Use the available cleanup or recompression controls, then export a separately named archive.
- Open the new ZIP and check its file count and a few representative files.
Example workflow
A folder of CSV logs may shrink substantially, while an archive dominated by JPG images may remain nearly the same size.
Important limitations
- Do not assume recompression repairs corrupted entries.
- Encrypted or password-protected ZIP files may not be supported by the browser implementation.
