What this tool is for
MOV files from phones and cameras may use formats that are not universally accepted by web forms. A smaller export is useful for uploads, but color, frame rate and audio compatibility should be checked after conversion.
How to use it
- Select a MOV clip and preview a representative portion if the browser supports it.
- Set compression options appropriate to the destination's file-size limit.
- Download and test the result, particularly clips with high dynamic range or variable frame rate.
Example workflow
When an iPhone clip is too large to email, compress a duplicate and confirm it plays on a different device.
Important limitations
- Some MOV codecs may not decode in a given browser or FFmpeg configuration.
- HDR appearance, metadata or orientation can change during transcode.
